Day 10

May 22, 2023 — 12:56 P.M. (For May 19, 2023)

Work Period: 12:00 A.M. - 12:00 A.M.

Work Hours: 24

Total Hours: 95

So, we don't have a video for this day because it was one of the most exhausting days ever, and we barely made ourselves dinner let alone a vlog. We hoped to do it in the morning but ran a bit late, so we decided to type this day out instead.

We hiked a total of 9 miles and summited what felt like 25 mountains, and it took us around 10 hours from when we left our campsite in the morning to when we got to our camp at night. We started with a 1.6-mile descent that took us two hours due to snow, ice, and steepness–some of the parts on this descent were literally rock faces with pieces of wood stuck into the rock as steps. After that, it was .6 miles straight up; it was something like 600 feet of elevation and triple that for the descent we did right before it. Then it flattened out a bit, and our trail landed on a ridge, which is why it felt like we climbed a billion different mountains since there were so many little hills. To get to our campsite for the night, we had to summit Mt. Wolf, and the trail sort of curves across the mountain, so we felt like we were going in circles, and it made the 9 miles that day feel like 25. It was a really mentally trying day because it just sorta went on forever; we kept going up and down really steep bits and could never tell where we actually were. I'm glad we did it because it was a little humbling; the stuff we had hiked before was comparatively easy, so I guess we were just not estimating our abilities consistently, but it all worked out well.  There were also like 2 views and lookouts on this whole trip, which made it a little unsatisfying, but we knew there were pretty views around us, so we took pictures from whatever little smidge of view we happened to get.
